James is a professional writer, director & creative facilitator and dramaturge. James has worked with the National Theatre, the National Theatre of Scotland, the Old Vic, in the West End, and regionally. James is the recipient of the Lilian Baylis Award for Theatrical Excellence, the Ideastap Innovator's Award, Peggy Ramsay and Leverhulme funding and his community projects have won several Koestler Awards and contributed to a Young People Now Award. His prison radio plays made with young offenders have been heard over 500k times. James is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and he is an alumnus of the Royal Court Young Writers' Programme. James is published by Oberon Books and has recently joined the pool of writers on BBC flagship daytime drama 'Doctors'.
James is the Literary Associate at The Marlowe Theatre and is an Associate Artist at the egg, Theatre Royal Bath.

NEWS: James is currently under commission to the Marlowe Theatre to write a play for adults. He is also directing and creating the Marlowe’s children’s Christmas play. James is working with the egg and Oxford Playhouse to develop ‘Getting There’ for 2019. James is currently longlisted for the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award 2019.
